Live Nativity and Open House
December 2, 2007
On December 16th, at 5:30 p.m., Algiers UMC will present a Live Nativity at the church. There will also be singing of Christmas carols and some special time for the children. There will be refreshments served in the fellowship hall afterwards. |

XYFC Update December 2007

Trey Fox recently returned from Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended a youth conference sponsored by Youth Specialties. Trey learned much and has much to share with our youth. Please continue to lift up our youth in prayers as we continue introducing youth to Christ and the Christ way of living. |

Celebration in the Oaks's
December 2, 2007
Algiers UMC has a decorated Christmas tree in City Park’s Celebration in the Oaks and the theme is “A Host of Angels.” Found in Storyland, it is tree #79. It is located behind the fire truck and count back several trees. |

Christmas Choral
December 2, 2007
The Algiers UMC Choir will present its annual choral concert of Christmas music on Sunday, December 9th, at 10:15 a.m. The congregation will take part in the program entitled “Together We Sing the Songs of Christmas”. We invite the public, especially those who would enjoy the opportunity to join with others in singing some of our most well-loved carols. |

Misson Moment - Did you Know?

Living out the commissioning of Jesus Christ is what our ministry objective is all about. Please pray that we may be effective and be able to introduce the kingdom to others. We are so excited about the ministry the church is faithfully pursuing. We believe God’s hands are serving others and by meeting the needs of others, people are realizing that this church, can be their church. Keep our mission work in your prayers. Do you have any spare time that needs filling? We give thanks for all those in mission, near and far. |

BOT Workday
December 2, 2007
The gardens looked wonderful after their cleaning on the November workday. Our thanks to all who participated. The church workday is scheduled for December 1st, from 8:00 a.m.— 12:00 p.m. All are encouraged to come for the great day of fellowship sponsored by our Board of Trustees. Indoors we hope to replace the dishwasher, get the kitchen ceiling panels put up, etc. Come help! No one is too young or too old!

An open letter to the congregation of AUMC from the Finance Committee:

Dear Friends:
It is the time of year that we are charged with the responsibility of setting the budget for 2008. As it is with businesses and even households, we must make next year’s projected budget based on the current year expenditures and expected increases. The budget items include the church building, parsonage, staff salaries, insurance, utilities, outreach ministries, and conference and district apportionments. We have worked this past year to see where we could become more fiscally responsible and have made headway by placing monies with the Methodist Foundation that affords us better interest on our monies deposited without the penalties of early withdrawals. |
