From your Pastor
June 30, 2009
"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. We love, because God first loved us."
(I John 4:7a, 18a, 19)

God with Us
December 2, 2007
The Advent Season, preparation for Christmas, Christ coming, and a new start, a new year, occurs within the next 31 days. Advent is all about preparation, being prepared for the coming of Christ, that is Emmanuel, God is with us.

Be Thankful
November 4, 2007
The beginning of another holiday season and I am thankful. I pray you are and that you don’t get wrapped up in the secularism of our times and forget thankfulness is all that is needed.

Estimating the Cost
September 1, 2007
Over the past few Sundays, we have been allowing The Gospel of Luke to help us prepare for “an unexpected hour” (12:40). I believe that preparing and estimating the cost of any venture is a wise move.

Blessed
August 5, 2007
In the salutation to the Ephesians, Paul so movingly wrote, “Grace to you and peace from God.” I do pray you are experiencing God’s richest blessings of grace and that grace is consuming you with an eternal peace.

One Year Here
June 1, 2007
I remember my first Pastor’s Corner at Algiers UMC. The title was “Change, just everywhere!” I believe if I had realized the changes we did experience, I would have changed the title! Quoting from July 2006, “I know God has things all planned out for each of us and we have to be faithful, prayerful, and discern the direction God has chosen for us.” I still believe this. I assure you my faith in God and you has increased. My prayer life is more committed to God and clarity is on the horizon.

God's World
May 1, 2007
“After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count” (Rev. 7:9). This is a beautiful image, you have to admit, standing before the throne of God, worshiping God. John is seeing people from all walks of life, in a multi-cultural context, worshiping God.

Reflection
February 26, 2007
The Lenten Season, a time for “self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and mediating on God’s Holy Word” (United Methodist Book of Worship, 322) has arrived. Ash Wednesday began our journey, the forty days, not counting Sundays, before Easter. Lent is a time for us to step back, see where we have been, where we are, and where we want to be. “As the deer pants for streams of water, so [our] soul pants for you O, God” (Psalm 42:1).

Our Greatest Gift
January 7, 2007
The wonderful season of giving and receiving is upon us. Wrapped between preparations, travels, frustrations, and expectations is a wonderful gift. The problem is not the gift, but our understanding of why we received the gift. To be called a gift there must be a giver and a receiver. God gives the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and this gift is available for everyone who has faith.
