God Is Good, All the Time
All the Time, God Is Good
Perhaps you are familiar with this “call and response” which is sometimes used in church services. When the preacher says, “God is good,” the people respond, “all the time.” And again, when the preacher repeats, “All the time,” the people reply, “God is good!” Uh, wait a minute.
Is God still good if you lose your home, lose your job, lose a loved one? Is God still good if the doctor says you have 6 months to live? What about these hard times in which we live? Floods. Fires. Storms. Catastrophic climate change. Famine. War. Violence. Shootings. Maybe you have wondered, in the midst of this mess on Earth, how can we affirm that God is good all the time?
That’s what our scripture for Sunday, found in Psalm 107, unequivocably affirms, even in the hardest of times. Plan to be with us this week in worship as together we consider the goodness of God –yes, in the midst of the mess.
