You Gotta Have Faith
Even when the New Orleans Saints are looking more like the Ain’ts, the steadfast Who Dat Nation will still say, “Bless you boys!” We will still say, “I believe!” We will say, “You gotta have faith!” And we will strive, as Drew Brees has taught us, to “finish strong!”
So it is with the life of faith. Even in times when things ain’t going our way, we must continue, as Paul admonishes us in this week’s lesson, to “fight the good fight…finish the race…and keep the faith.” Did he write these words from a lofty throne, a scenic mountaintop, a gilded palace, to the applause of countless admirers? No. He was actually in prison, facing execution. Did that mean he was a failure? Or did he “finish strong”? History would prove that his was a “mission accomplished.”
May we too find the way to keep the faith and finish strong, especially in those trying times when patience runs thin, and obstacles abound, and hope is in short supply. Come what may, “I believe!” Do you?
