All Saints Sunday, November 2, 2025
Holy Communion in Remembrance of
Those Who Have Gone Before Us

Who is your favorite saint?

  • Mary–mother of Jesus
  • Joseph–for fathers and carpenters
  • Francis–for love of animals and nature
  • Nicholas–for Christmas giving
  • Michael–for protection
  • Peter–the “Rock” of the church
  • Anthony– for lost items
  • Jude–for lost causes
  • Christopher–for travel
  • Valentine–for romance
  • Teresa–the mystic
  • Joan–the courageous visionary
  • Patrick–for the Trinity

There are so many! The early church assigned a saint for every day of the year. But, as it turned out, there were so many saints, they ran out of days! And thus they set aside one day of the year to honor them all. This Sunday, we will celebrate that day.

In our tradtion, we use the term “saint” in the broadest Biblical sense, the same sense in which Paul referred to all members of his churches filled with ordinary people like you and me striving to be faithful in the midst of challenge and change.

On this special Sunday, those of us who have lost loved ones since this time last year will have the opportunity to light a candle in his or her memory.

And, on this special Sunday and in the days ahead, may we be inspired and encouraged by those who have gone before us in the faith–all the company of heaven!

Grace and Peace,
Callie
