God of generosity and compassion, You have created us in your image and given us the gift of appropriate fear. Yet at times we allow fear to control us rather than be a part of your protective plan for us. Forgive us and help us to trust you. Help us to use all your gifts in appropriate ways. Teach us to live, not with a spirit of fear and timidity, but one of power love and self-discipline. Amen.
